About Jennifer Krawchuk
Hello! I am based out of Calgary, AB, but also am available in Kelowna, BC in the summers. I've lived here for 10 years but grew up in the southern US. I met my husband in Missouri and ended up in Calgary where he was living. I always joke that I was actually looking for a job even further south to avoid winter before I met him! You never know where you are going to end up! My professional background is in Occupational Health and Safety, completely different than photography. I've always had a love for photographs though and started to get more interested in photography 10 years ago when I got my first DSLR camera. Like many other photographers, I really began to learn photography in depth after I had children. I now have 2 children and I love that I am able to capture their childhood in photographs (check out my instagram/facebook to see how I capture them). Having children has allowed me to understand the connection in families and I yearn to capture that for others.
I love creating photographs that mean something. I focus on natural light, lifestyle family, newborn, and portrait photography. I'm inspired by emotional interactions, pretty light, sunsets, movement, foggy landscapes, water, snow, long grass, summer, pretty interiors, and graphic backgrounds. My sessions will typically be outside or in the clients home and I'm always open to trying new locations. My focus is to capture the connections in families and the individuality of each person. So many memories are tied to photographs and I want to capture those memories for others. I do take a mix of posed and unposed shots as I really love to capture people as they truly are, so don't be surprised if I ask you not to look at the camera!
